Always gotta remember to lock the door after closing the trunk. Actually its working but everytime you go near the hatch it will always auto unlock so it feels like its not working. Aug 6, 2019 · Approach car, unlock using remote, go to boot, press button, it won't open. Open a rear door and press the lock button on the remote. Locks chatter, but won't lock because door is open. Go to boot, press button, it opens. I have no idea why this worked for me. I've done this several times. I believe the vehicle must be in park, and the doors must be unlocked for the rear liftgate to be opened. Hold down the lift-gate button for a few seconds. This was also an occurrence for cx-5, mazda 3, and mazda 6 owners too in addition to cx-9’s. I work at a mazda dealer. Open the tailgate manually and leave it open, take both the cables OFF the battery and hold them together (when the cables are OFF the battery) re install the cables on battery and wait a minute.
